Yup... only two lessons to go.  So what does that mean?  That means, by the time your done with your final two lesson, it'll be time to spread your wings and fly...

Congratulations are in order my friend... You're well on your way to becoming one of the elite - one of the less than 2% of Internet Entrepreneurs who actually make money online.  And if you really work hard... we're even  talkin "life-changing" money!

Are ya nervous?  Don't be!  The most important aspect to succeeding online is just getting off the bench and joining the game.  You gotta get off the bench and join the game my friend!  You can't keep thinking and planning about what actions you're going to take - just take some action!... Pick a target and shoot!

If you miss your target, grab another arrow and shoot again!  Practice makes perfect.  Determination and perseverance outshine any other traits you could possibly have in your arsenal.

Yes, you're going to screw up at times.  That's OK.  Some days you're going to feel like you want to throw in the towel... DON'T. Put everything you've learned here in these lessons into action and you can't fail...

Plus... We're going to lay it all out for you in simple terms - with a perfect game plan that to this day has NEVER been known to fail.

Here's something to really think about that's the perfect preface to today's lesson...

Did you know the vast majority of internet sales are NEVER made on the first contact with a customer.  In fact, those who succeed online continuously follow up with their customers at least 5-10 times before actually making "the sale".  So many website owners think that they're going to skyrocket sales and become an instant success online just by getting "Mega" traffic to their website - WRONG!

Believe me when I tell you... You could have the "Greatest" products or services ever being showcased online, but if you don't keep in constant contact with your customers, FORGET IT...  You'll never sell successfully! More importantly, you'll never establish a long term profitable business.

This goes for any type of online business - e-commerce, a business service, information sales, etc.  All businesses have their sites set on one ultimate goal - Get The Sale!  But most have no idea how to actually do this.  Today you're going to learn "step by step" how to do this... and do it right!

Don't misunderstand me... Some websites can continually generate a few "drizzles" of online sales each day without following up, but I guarantee you they'll never succeed over the long term if they continue to do business that way.

FACT: Less than 1% of sales are made on the first contact, compared to more than 80% of sales that are made on the 5th-10th contact with a customer.  If you aren't following up with your customer's, you're absolutely DOOMED online, and I can't say that enough!

Some online "entrepreneurs" think that "hits" to their website will automatically turn into sales - that it's simply a numbers game.  Get enough traffic and you'll eventually get the sales - WRONG!

It really isn't a numbers game as so many will have you think.  Yes, you could generate 1000 hits a day with all the marketing insights you now have in your arsenal (FREE)... but if you're not following up with your customers consistently, you're fighting a losing battle.

You may sell 3 of your 1000 customers on their first visit to your website, but you've left 997 of them to move along to buy from somebody else.  BIG MISTAKE!  and that's what separates the winners form the losers! 

Some less informed sellers might think that's great -  Three sales today.....  And never follow through on contacting the other 997 visitors that happened to stumble onto their website.  That absolutely amazes me!  Those other 997 visitors are your customers too.  They just need a bit more personalized attention to buy from you.  Why not give them what they ask for and MAKE THE SALE!  You can do it - automatically!

Take this example - Perhaps you average $20 on each sale you make.  Let's also assume you make 3 sales a day on average.  If you continue to do that day after day, you can easily profit $60 per day or $420 a week.  Multiply that by 52 weeks and you've made a nice online income for the year of approximately $22,000.  WOW!  $22,000 - who wouldn't be happy with that... right?  WRONGThat's "Chump Change" in comparison to what you could've made from that traffic...

Just think about the other 997 buyers - so many that were probably so close to buying but just weren't quite ready just AT THAT MOMENT.  Those buyers just needed a little "push" to buy from you.  If you never contact them again, you're throwing BIG money out the window!  And so many small business owners on the web do exactly that...  day after day after day.

GUARANTEED - Your other 997 customers have forgotten about you 5 minutes after leaving your website....

We've all been there.  You visit a website, really like some of the items and think about making a purchase.  Then - something happens - you hesitate...  maybe your spouse calls you into another room.  Perhaps one of the kids needs your attention so you close your web browser and never think about that website again...

But, if you received an email from them the following day asking about your shopping experience or offering you a freebie of some sort ... BAM!  Now they're right back in their face.  "REMEMBER ME!  I'm that store that you really liked but weren't quite ready to buy from!"

Now they've got your undivided attention again....  "By The Way... We've got a great sale this week on our "Worlds Greatest Widget" and we're offering free shipping... today only.  They've just given you a reason to come back to their store and make a purchase.  CHING!

A less informed website owner would've never got this sale.  Why?  They failed to follow up with their visitors.

Following up with your website traffic isn't hard, believe me.  In fact, right now, I'm going to show you how to do this 5 to 10 times for each customer - minimum - without even turning on your computer...

The "Ins and Outs" Of Autoresponders... And Why They Will Be Your #1 Selling Tool!


If you aren't familiar with autoresponders, let me give give you a wake up call.  Some folks think they know what an autoresponder is... but, in reality... they're sadly mistaken.  When most folks think of an autoresponder, they think of a message that is instantly delivered in response to an email that was sent to a certain email address.

For example:

Let's say I'm going away for three days on vacation and I won't be available to answer any incoming emails from my customers.  I can setup an autoresponder (most web hosts offer this service in your hosting account) to send a pre-written response - automatically - to any emails that arrive in my inbox.

Thank you for contacting me.  Unfortunately I am away on business until Jan 10th.  I will be sure to answer your email once I return.  Your business is very important to me..

Blah... Blah... Blah...

Is that an autoresponder?  Actually yes... it is.  But we're not even remotely concerned about these types of autoresponder messages.  Not even close!

I'm talking about "Sequential" autoresponders my friend.  POWERFUL stuff!  Who cares about that stupid email that's sent because I'm away from the office...

NOBODY!

That's like comparing a .22 pistil to a stealth fighter jet... no comparison!

So what is a sequential autoresponder and how will this incredibly "easy to use" tool help us build out opt in list and increase our sales and profits?

A sequential autoresponder allows us the opportunity to compose an unlimited number of messages and set them up to be delivered at pre-determined intervals.

Sound complicated?  Think again (really simple stuff here kiddo...)

Let's take an example for our fictitious website... Candle Lite Cooking:

Here's the scenario... (and remember... all of this was already setup in our autoresponder for any customer who opted into our list).  Even the opt-in form was created by our autoresponder.  All we had to do was insert a small snippet of code where we wanted the opt in form to show up on our website.

  • Day 1 - Customer visits our website and opts into our newsletter.
     
  • Day 1 - Customer receives an immediate email from our autoresponder thanking them for signing up and points them to a link where they can review all of the past issues in our archive.
     
  • Day 2 - Customer receives a follow up email asking them if they have any questions, and also alerts them to the fact that we also have a blog and online forum that we'd love to see them participate in.
     
  • Day 5 - We send this customer a free report "Outdoor Barbeque Favorites" that we put together from various recipes sent in by our newsletter readers.
     
  • Day 8 - We follow up with our customer to be sure they received their FREE report and inquire if they have any questions.
     
  • Day 12 - We send an email to our customer alerting them of the new service we now offer - "Candle Lite Socialite".  We let him/her know about all the benefits of signing up for the FREE service (cross -promoting another list).
     
  • Day 15 - We send an email with a FREE certificate to join our "Members Only" discount club where they can save on a variety of items and be alerted of specials promotions, etc.
     
  • Day 20 - We send our customer another free report titled ""A Dozen Roses, A Dozen Love Songs, And Dozens Of Romantic Recipes - - Your "Meal Ticket" To Putting The Romance Back Into Your Life!"
     
  • Day 25 - We follow up with our customer to be sure they received the report and see if they have any questions.
     
  • Day 30 - We send an email to the customer letting them know that we have a special "free shipping" offer for first time buyers at our online store.

 Note:  Again, all those messages were sent out automatically to all of our opt-ins without us even having to turn on our computer!

You've just witnessed a "very basic" scenario for a 30 day cycle that we could've setup automatically in our autoresponder system.  The greatest part of all, once we write those emails in advance and load them into the autoresponder system, the rest is auto-pilot!  The autoresponder takes care of everything.

Our autoresponder system will even "personalize" each email with specific information you request from your customer on the form they fill out when they opt in to our list - the most popular being the customers First Name.

Can you even begin to grasp the power in this tool?

It's like a system to print money!  And I only went as far as 30 days in the above scenario.  I could write a new email message everyday, load it into my autoresponder at whatever pre-determined interval I choose, set it... and forget it!  I could have emails being delivered to customers for an entire year if I choose - never lifting a finger!

Plus, in addition to all those automatic emails that are being delivered to my customer, I could send a bulk email to the entire list any time I choose with any message I'd like.

Let's do an example of a bulk email I might send:

Let's say I just read a terrific e-book titled...

"Cashin In On Your Home Cookin!"

I could easily make some money with this book.  Yup!  Easily...

How you ask?  After all, it's not my book... right?

Yes and no!

  • It might be my own ebook I wrote (more on that later).

  • It might be a book I found online that has a lucrative affiliate program associated with it.

  • Or, it might be a book that I purchased the resale rights or private label rights to.

All of the above are possibilities (and we'll talk about each one individually in a few minutes).

But let's assume for the sake of this lesson that I read the book, loved the content and what it had to offer, and I went to the authors website and found out that the author was offering me a 50% commission on each sale I make.

WOW!  50%... That's a steal! CA-CHING!

So here's what my two options might be...

I could send out a bulk email to my entire list... or I could create an email and load it into my autoresponder system... or... I could actually do both!

And doing BOTH is what I plan to do...

So here's the process...

 

Step 1 -  I create a brilliant email....


Subject: [firstname] Your favorite recipes could make you a fortune...

Hi [firstname],

I just finished reading a remarkable new book today and I just have to share some of this info with you.

As unbelievable as it sounds, there's actually a company based out of Tampa, FLA who will pay you $55 for every recipe you send them (but they have to be original!)

When I mentioned this to my wife, she immediately began going through her recipe files and came up with 44 recipes she could submit.

Wow... 44 X $55 = $2420.00

I just hope she keeps diggin...

Anyway [firstname], just in case you've got some family recipes you'd like to cash in on, I wanted to let you know about this before they pull the offer.

Step 2 - Now I'll now send that email out to my entire list (or lists) that are cooking related.  Each message will be sent out with just a few clicks of my mouse.  My autoresponder will also personalize each message with my customer's first name as well.  Cool huh?

Every email will also have my affiliate ID embedded into the links so I will generate a 50% commission on every sale. 

And ya know what?  I could almost guarantee that this one email (worst case scenario) will easily make me $1000 per every 5000 names I send it out to on my list!

Really!  It's that easy!

Let's do the math...

Cost of Book - $19.95

My commission - $10.00 (50%)

5000 names on my list (divided by) 2% response (which is figuring for a poor response actually) = 100 sales

100 sales @ $10.00 each sale = $1000.00

And that's just to a small list of only 5000 names!

Now, what if I had my list built up to 50,000 names...

$10,000 Bucks from one email!  Powerful...no?

Step 3 - Now, in addition to sending out the bulk email to my list, I would then take this same email and load it up into my autoresponder.  I could choose to have this email sent at any time to all my opt ins - after they sign up to one of my lists.

So let's look at our lists and see what we could do at Candle Lite Cooking:

We have the following opt in offers already setup:

  • Our free newsletter

  • Our free report

  • Our free membership for the discount shopping club

  • Our free "socialite" alerts

I'd consider those the main lists we've got going at our Candle Lite Cooking Site.

So, which of these lists can we load this email into to be sent out automatically to a customer after they opt in?

Hmm... I like the Newsletter list.  These are the types of folks that I think would be most interested.  In addition, it would also depend on what emails we're already having sent out from our autoresponder, but for the sake of this example... let's go with that list... ok? (just shut up... it's my course here!)

So now, all we'd need to do at this point is open our autoresponder software (or login to our online account) and paste the email somewhere in the series of emails already being sent out.

We'll choose to have it sent out on day 45. (again... my course - 45  it is!)

This way, our customer will have already received quite a bit of valuable information from us... they're accustomed to hearing from us (not spam) and we've had a chance to establish a friendly relationship with them.

NOTE: We'll also save a copy of this email in notepad or in our favorite text editor so we could send it out as a bulk email to our list again a few months from now when we need some quick cash....  CHING!

I would also probably send out a follow-up bulk email two days later just to remind everyone of the offer.  I'll usually "purposely" forget to tell them something about the product or the special offer.  This gives me a great reason to contact them again.  Just by following up with a second email, you could usually DOUBLE your sales from this one promotion!

Okay, so now we've sent out our promotion (carefully and brilliantly written of course - NOT BUY NOW - but more of a conversational style) and we've also loaded up this same message into our autoresponder system so it will automatically go out to any new subscribers on our list on day 45....

Now we'll continue to generate affiliate commissions each and everyday from this one message in our autoresponder series (because several names each day will be at day 45 in our list - as long as we continue to add to our opt in list everyday)!

So... what's next?

Step 4 - Well... we need new content for our blog today... don't we?  Let's post it to our blog, include our affiliate link, and let the "stack-o-cash" build!  Naturally, we'll want to change up the wording for our blog post to a more "editorial review" style post about this book, but the concept is the same!  Promote the book and make money on commissions...

And then I think we could call it a days work... wouldn't you say?  We've made a quick $1000 on our email promotion, posted to our blog (more backend revenue), and we've added another brilliant email to our autoresponder series.  I'd say that a day well spent!

Now, if we do the follow up in a few days and then repeat this process over and over again with other products and services... Oy-Yoy-Yoy!

(And just imagine if you had your own product you created yourself that you could promote to your list - that's 100% profit in your bank - double the profit on this email campaign alone!)


So, now let's break down the "back-end" of autoresponders and take a closer look at what you need to do to setup your own autoresponder service.

  • You can opt for an online service

  • You can opt for your own in-house software

The truth of the matter is.. they both have some pro's and con's.  If you were to ask me my personal opinion... I'd suggest starting out with an online service.  Much quicker and far easier to get setup and started.  Then, as your list becomes larger and larger, you could import the names over to your own software program at a later time.

    So... Before you do anything with your online business... setup your autoresponder service!


    So now, let me ask you again Cheese-Whiz..

    Are you beginning to understand why building your list should be your biggest priority?  Are ya seein the Benny's piling up?  Are ya feelin the moolah?

    Good... I thought that scenario might shed some light ;-)

    Now... do you still remember how to quickly get your list built for FREE?

    C'mon... think hard! Don't you disappoint me here ya little rodent....

    Here's a few ideas we talked about...

    • Writing articles and submitting to the article directories...
    • Posting to forums in your niche...(with a strong freebie in your sig file)
    • Posting to your blog a few times a week...
    • Offering your advice in niche newsgroups...

    And how about a few other ways you could bring traffic to your site as well (NOT FREE - but very lucrative):

    • Advertise a free report in a popular newsletter (great way to advertise online)
    • Advertise a free report in your local newspaper (getting started in direct mail)
    • Advertise using Pay Per Click (very effective if done correctly)

    • Classified Online Advertising (cheap and effective)
    • The list goes on and on....

    Get that thinking cap on and start thinkin outside the box.  Okay?

    Let move along...

    We talked about affiliate sites such as Amazon, Commission Junction, and Clickbank... remember?

    Well, here's a newsbreak... Sit down for this one!

    You will make 1000 times more money promoting information products via Clickbank than all other affiliate programs combined!

    Yup!  The truth be told.  Information products are KING when it comes to packin in a paycheck.  In addition, once you learn how to sell and create your own information product, the sky's the limit! (HUGE money-maker!)

    Let me explain a few things...

    ** To be honest... This is usually so hard to get folks to understand...but I'm going to give it my best shot here BECAUSE I REALLY WANT YOU TO SUCCEED!

    The truth is... If you're really, really lucky, you could find a few good products out there that will pay you a 50% commission on a sale.  You might find a software program, or a web builder program, or maybe a computer supply wholesaler, etc... But they'll be tough to come accross.

    Furthermore, when dealing with drop shippers and wholesalers, you'll be lucky to see a 20% profit margin - AT BEST!  With all the superstores popping up in every niche out there (Wal-Mart, Pet Supply Plus, Home Depot, etc.) that makes it extremely difficult to price tangible goods at a descent profit margin.

    But with Clickbank - 50% commissions is the industry standard.  You might even see 60% to 70% commissions on many of their products And the really good ones SELL!

    Why?  It all boils down to human psychology....

    Let me elaborate...

    What if I mailed out a similar promotion like the email we just discussed above - only instead of telling my readers of the new ebook I just read and how they might be able to cash in on their original recipes with cold, hard, cash... Instead I wrote an email telling them that I just bought a new set of pots and pans and they were dynamite.  They made my cooking chores so much easier and they should jump on the sale I'm offering on them!

    Do you think I'd have a rats-ass chance in China of selling any of those pots and pans?  Really... do you?  Even though my entire list is focused on cooking?

    Not on my best day!  No matter how clever I might be (and such a good salesman to boot ;-)  Ahhh.. maybe a few sales would trickle on in, but not many - guaranteed.

    Why?

    Because if somebody needs pots and pans... they're goin to Wal-Mart... plain and simple.  And to take it one step further, 99% of my readers don't NEED pots and pans right now - so why would they but them!

    They would immediately think about my offer with the "LOGICAL" side of their brain.  Bad news bub!

    We want our readers to think about our offers with the "EMOTIONAL" side of their brain!

    Let's go one step further...

    You have to understand that the world in general is just plain ole' BORED with life!  Really...  For most folks - life's a drag!  Sad... but true.  We're all sick to death with the same old 9-5 rat race that most of us live in - day after day after day after day...

    We want entertainment in our lives.  We want to unload some stress.  We want to learn a secret nobody else knows about!

    We're not interested in buying pots and pans from some schmuk's email today!

    It's all about understanding who your customers are and what they "REALLY" want.

    • to be healthier
    • to look better
    • to attract the opposite sex
    • to make more money and have more fun
    • to escape pain - both physical and mental
    • to save money
    • to feel superior
    • to be self-confident
    • to be successful
    • to save time
    • to have more leisure time

    So, what does pots and pans do for your customer when you consider the list above?

    You guessed it... NOTHING!

    But what about a book on how to make a fast buck by selling your own recipes?  What does this do for a subscriber?  A LOT!

    • save some extra cash for a rainy day

    • make some more money now

    • be more self- confident

    • feel superior

    • have more leisure time

    • learn a secret

    Am I makin any sense here?

    I certainly hope so because you really need to understand this VITAL concept of human nature in order to see the kind of "profitable" results you're looking for with your online business.

    I could probably write an entire book alone about this subject (and many have)... so I guess you'll just have to trust me on this one if you really want to make "life-changing" money online!

    It's all about giving folks what they "REALLY" want - not what they "THINK" they want!

    And what they REALLY want is "Indulgences - Selfish, self-centered indulgences!

    That's why every movie house, every fast food restaurant, every video rental store, etc. etc. is usually packed whenever you go inside -- Because folks are looking for a way to find a release from their boring, everyday lives and they're seeking out joy and entertainment.

    Now, this is important and I don't want you to misunderstand me...

    We could definitely sell some pots and pans from our website store because there will be a certain amount of folks who are SPECIFICALLY looking to buy pots and pans on certain days throughout the year.

    Plus, if we play our cards right, continuously keep in touch with all of our website visitors by getting them to opt-into our free promotion, get them to read our monthly newsletter, get them to read our blog posts, get them to join our forum community, etc. etc. etc.  then you know what?

    When they need a good set of pots and pans... guess where they'll be headin first?  Wal-Mart?  NOPE!  Candle Lite Cooking? YES!

    That's because we've kept in touch with them, gave them some entertainment in their lives, and they now look to us as a friend in the online world!  That's why it's so important to build those relationships with your subscribers and show them that you really do care about them - because after all - WE REALLY DO CARE!

    Okay... let's look at two VERY REAL scenarios...
     

    Scenario 1:

    Bill has a job at a local factory where he loads trucks all day long.  It pays pretty well and he's been there there for 12 years.

    He likes the people he works with, but, of course, the job doesn't even come close to stimulating his brain.  He punches the clock everyday at 8:00 am and he's only missed two days of work in his entire time there.

    He and his wife and kids usually head out for dinner and a movie on Saturday night and life, in general, is pretty good.  The family's healthy, they live in a nice neighborhood, they both drive a newer model car... Ya... Life is pretty good!

    Now, Bill comes home from work on a Tuesday evening (after working two hours overtime) and the wife's yellin because the ice- maker on the fridge is broke and the grass needs to be cut.  His son needs 20 bucks for a new keyboard for his computer, and his mother called and needs a ride to a doctor's appointment tomorrow evening!  Sheesh! 

    Finally, after eating dinner, getting the lawn mowed, and fixing the ice-maker, and calling his mom... Bill decides he needs some time to relax.  So he pours himself a hot cup of coffee, settles in at his computer, and decides he'll check his email and just RELAX!

    So, he hits send and receive and watches as his email come in...

    And he proceeds to open the email and take a look.

    And low and behold - here's an interesting email about a book (entertainment) that could actually earn his family some extra money.

    Do you think we even have a small chance of holding Bill's interest and getting a sale?  You betcha!  Bill's sick and tired of the same old daily grind.  He wants some relief from everybody and everything!  He wants some JOY - finally - in his life... even if it's just temporary - GIVE ME SOMETHING TO ENTERTAIN MYSELF!  PLEASE....

     

    And now we have scenario #2

    Scenario #2

    Barbara is also on our mailing list and loves to cook.  In her spare time she even enters cooking contests in her area - and she's actually won a few prizes for her recipes.

    Now Barbara works for a local attorney as a paralegal and she's becoming more and more frustrated with her boss.  He makes all the money while she does all the work...

    Life's so unfair...

    Barbara's been working a second job two nights a week because she needs two new tires on her 10 year old Honda Civic, and she's a single mom trying to raise her daughter on her own - best she can.

    Today's Thursday - GOOD!  No second job tonight!  She just wants to stop by her mom's house, pick up her daughter, and head on home to spend some quality time with her before bed.

    She finally gets home, eats dinner with her little girl, plays a game or two, and then she settles her daughter into bed.

    Whew!  She's whipped.  It's been a long day and tomorrows looking no easier.

    So she decides to write a few quick emails to some friends that have been on her mind and then settle in and read a good book for an hour or so before calling it a day.

    She pops open her email account - but before she starts writing to her friends - she hits the "send and receive" button on her email program.  Her messages start to come in...

    • Please update your online banking info
    • Barbara - Save 25% on these professional pots and pans

    Guess what.  Barbara quickly scans through all those subjects and hits the delete button on every one!  WHO CARES!

    But what if Barbara noticed the subject:

    Do you think we'd have a better chance of getting that email read? (and possibly a sale)...

    You bet your life we do!


    Our readers want some entertainment!  Get me outta the rat race and entertain my sorry ass -- because life is HARD!

     

    Scenario 1:

    Dave... an email from ya?  Good!  I hope it has something to take my mind off all these freekin bills that are piling up and and the crappy JOB I'm beginning to hate more and more every dam day of my life!

    What?...  I could make some money from some recipes?  I need money!  I'm very curious about this!

    Honey... Look at this!  We could make some moolah from your grandma Maria's recipes... hurry up... go get the credit card and lets get this thing!  I want to read it and see we could make a few bucks!

    Scenario 2:

    OH DAVE!  What the hell is this.... I don't want any stupid pots and pans... Why the heck is everybody spamming me with all this crap?

    Please stop sending me this junk Dave! My life is hectic enough! (where's that damn unsubscribe link so I could get off this stupid list already!)
     


    You see... marketing on the web is all about one thing:

    Become your customer!  Think like he does!  Put yourself in his or her shoes!  What does he like?  What annoys him?  What gets him all fired up?  What makes him whip out his credit card?  BE THE CUSTOMER!!!!!

    The customer doesn't care if this new TV has a remote control - he cares about whether or not he has to get his lazy ass off the couch to change the channel!

    He doesn't care if the new food processor has four speeds and 5 cutting blades - He cares about whether or not it'll whip together a batch of pancake batter in less than 8 seconds so when he has to get up early with the kids on Saturday morning he's not standing at the counter for 5 minutes waiting for the batter to mix.  All he really wants to do is get the kids fed and watch the morning news.

    Understanding the "MINDSET" of your customer is critical in making sales with your list.  Once you start to think like your customer - becoming your customer - your sales will skyrocket!

    Again, I could go on and on about this subject so what I'd like to do is refer you to a PHENOMENAL book written by Joe Robson and Dr. Ken Evoy.  The title of the book is Make Your Words Sell!  The cost of the book is only $29.00, but I'm personally here to tell you that the value of the information inside this gem is priceless.  Get the book and read it!
     


    Okay then... let's continue...

     

    Before I move on to a new topic, I just wanted to give a little piece of code that will be of great benefit to you and your website.  This code is used to "protect" your affiliate commissions from unscrupulous folks who try to by-pass your affiliate links and go directly to a website without giving you your hard-earned credit for your sale.

    Yes... it's true.  There are folks out there who find pain in the fact that you might make a few bucks for referring them to an affiliates website.

    Nuts... huh?

    Well, here's a clever way to get around this.

    When most folks create an affiliate link on their website or in an email promotion - here's what they usually do:

    http://www.affiliatesite.com/myaffiliatetag

    To break that link down, here's what this shows:

    www.affiliatesite.com - the URL to the affiliates website

    /myaffiliatetag - your unique affiliate ID that you need to use in order to get credit for the referral.

    So, what these unscrupulous hijackers do is they simply copy the primary link (www.affiliatesite.com) while leaving off your affiliate tag.  Then, they simply open up a web browser and paste the link in the address bar to go directly to that particular website.

    Well.. we NEVER want this to happen to us... right?

    So here's what you can do.

    First, you need to open up your website in your favorite editor (or your FTP program) and create a new folder in your web called "recommends" (or something similar)

    Next, create an index page loaded up with your best opt -in offer and save it to that folder.  This way, if someone happens to type in the direct URL to yoursite.com/recommends to tries to look inside this folder - your "index.htm" page will display automatically with an opt-in offer for your newsletter or free report, etc.

    Now, what you want to do is create a page template with the following code in it:

    That's it... nothing else!  Save this page as "template.htm" and never overwrite this page.

    Now, anytime you want to refer someone to an affiliates website, you would simply open your "template.htm" and immediately save the page as an easy-to-remember name that refers to the affiliates product.

    For example, let's use the book in the email example from earlier in this lesson.  I would open the "template.htm" page and immediately save it as
    "recipe-fortune.htm"

    Now, when I wanted to setup a link and have someone click on this link to earn a commission, I would simply make the link as follows:

    http://www.mywebsite.com/recommends/recipe-fortune.htm

    See.. there's no way of this person knowing what the affiliates website actually is.  There's no way for them to copy a direct link and by pass my link.  They need to click on this link to find out what the offer is!

    Now - this is the important part - you will have to change the code in the HTML each time you want to setup a new referral page because your actual affiliate ID link will be embedded in the html code of each page.

    There are two spots in the code you will need to change each time.   I've highlighted these two spots in yellow below:

    And that's it.  Just paste your affiliate link (that your affiliate provides to you) in these two spots in the HTML and you're all set - and now... no one can steal your commissions!

    Note: the above example is for a Clickbank referral link but you can use any link format, just as you normally would in your website HTML.

    Now, when a customer clicks on your affiliate link, they will be taken to a re-direct page that will only say...
     

    Connecting... Please wait...

    If you are not redirected within 3 seconds... Please Click Here


    Then, after approximately three seconds, the page will automatically redirect you customer to your affiliates website and you will receive the credit for sending them!
     

     

    Okay... so now we've talked about the power of your autoresponder and where to go to setup your own autoresponder.  Now, I want to talk a little bit more about Clickbank.

    You need to go to Clickbank and setup an account immediately!  There are several reasons why you'll want to do this:

    1. You can earn very lucrative commissions from Clickbank products.

    2. You can also sell your own information products through Clickbank

    3. Other folks looking to make money by selling information products via Clickbank can sell your product to their customers (and will - if you create a great product) - hence giving you a sales force of thousands of website owners all selling your product for you.

    4. Clickbank will do all the credit card processing for you so you will not need to have your own merchant account to accept credit card orders for your own products.

    There's also one additional affiliate marketplace that I'd like to briefly discuss with you.  This is a marketplace where you can not only find great products to sell and earn a commission, but you can also sell your products and generate a huge sales force of affiliates.  The name of this site is PayDotCom

    What's nice about PayDotCom is the fact that all sales are processed via Paypal.  You get paid instantly for your sales through their shopping cart, and your affiliates get paid via Paypal (all handled by PayDotCom) for their referrals.  This makes it a very attractive market for those affiliates who like to get paid their commissions directly into their PayPal account.
     


    Creating Your Own Products And Purchasing The "RIGHTS" To Other Products

    Now I'd like to switch gears a little bit and talk briefly about how profitable it will be to your business when you can sell your own products and services.  Again, I'm going to keep this short, sweet, and to the point.  We'll discuss more of this topic in our next lesson as we begin to put everything we learned into a solid game plan.

    Okay.. let's roll...

    When most folks think about creating their own products they can't begin to imagine the amount of time and effort it would take to get the job done.  And rest assured, it can be a grueling process - but well worth your efforts in long run.

    You can always hire a ghost writer to create something for you in a short period of time.  Just go to to a place like http://www.getafreelancer.com/  and post your project.  Professional writers will be glad to bid on your project.  Remember... they do this full time.

    Here's just of a few projects you could think about...

    • You could hire a programmer to develop a particular software program

    • a writer to write your ebook

    • a copywriter to construct a sales page

    • a web designer to create you site for you

    • a graphics designer to design an ebook cover or report graphic

    This is a great resource at very affordable prices.

    Then, once you have your own product, you're in total control.

    • You can sell that product for whatever price you choose and keep 100% of the profits on every sale.

    • If your product is a digital product (like an ebook) you can setup your website and autoresponder to collect the payment and send the download link to your customer once payment is collected - on auto-pilot.  Instant delivery and no shipping hassles...

    • You can offer the resale right to the product for other to sell and earn money from.

    • You can offer the Private Label Rights to the product (and get a high price tag) and allow others to add to your product, credit themselves as the author of the product, sell resale rights to the product, etc.. This would allow them to do just about anything - for the right price of course ;-)

    • You could email your list with your own product offers and double your profits on each sale

    • The list goes on and on...

    My point here is this - you want to start brainstorming about the type of product you could create for your bniche'.  Focus on a quality, informative product that would not only entertain but also be incredibly valuable to your niche'.

    Here's some things to consider about your customers when brainstorming:

    • solve a problem

    • make more money

    • alleviate pain

    • remove stress

    • discover a secret

    • become more respected

    • have more leisure time

    Once you discover what this product might be that fills one (or all) of these voids - the sky's the limit!

    Many online info-preneurs are selling dozens of their own products to their niche consistently.  These products don't have to be 1000 pages of text - they could be a simple 10 page report that you sell for $14.95 or an audio interview with an expert in the field.  The point is - it must be well thought out and worth the money...  bottom line!

    Just taking our Candle Lite Cooking website as an example, we could create:

    • a secret recipe e-book

    • a small, concise report on winning dating tips

    • a software program that would organize all your recipes onto your computer for easy access (and sharing with others) at any time.

    • a 10 page report on how to start your own "booming" catering business

    • a paid section to a "members only" area

    • an ebook on how to open a  "bed and breakfast" and cash in on the newest trend in vacationing

    • a 20 page report - "99 Ways To Make Money In The Kitchen"

    The list goes on and on.  My point is... DEVELOP YOUR OWN PRODUCT.

    NOTE: There are other, quicker, easier ways to acquire your own product that we'll discuss in a moment...

    Remember this too - An info-product doesn't have to be a report or an e-book.  It can be virtually anything:

    • PC Videos

    • Audio recordings

    • DVD's / CD's

    • Software

    • A membership site

    • A paid newsletter

    The list goes on and on... and remember our little site at http://www.cafepress.com that will develop one single CD or personalized gift  for you if you want!  That can be a goldmine in itself...

    Then, once you have developed your own product, you could add it to the Clickbank marketplace and let others sell it for you (digital only).  Offer at least a 50% commission and you'll have more affiliates selling for you than you could've ever imagined.  That's when you'll see the sales rollin in my friend!

    Now, what if you want to get started selling your own products and you don't have a product developed yet?  Well... that's when you look for resale rights and private label rights for products in your niche.

    You'll pay a bit more for the license to resell someone else's product, but once you own the resale rights, every sale gives you 100% profit.

    The good news is this... In our next lesson, I'm going to set you up with a game plan that will have all your biggest guns ready to fire.  We'll go step by step through the entire process of getting your marketing plan together, acquiring products for your website and setting up your autoresponders and opt in forms to make sales on auto-pilot.  No stone will be left unturned.

    For now, there's a few things I want you to do!

    1. If you haven't done so... start brainstorming your niche'.  This is usually the hardest - yet most important - aspect to getting started online.  If you already have a website, start looking for ways to develop your site into a lead-generation machine!  Forget sales - get the email addy!

    2. Setup your blog at http://www.blogger.com.

    3. Setup a one-page capture page for your niche' - remember... all you want to do is get the email address and begin building a list.

    4. Create a strong "sig file" for your email and forum posts.

    5. Start visiting the forums that are focused on your niche.  Find some newsgroups targeted toward your niche as well.  Start posting in these forums and newsgroups.

    6. Start writing - anything - just write!  Write article titles.  Write stories. Just Write!  You want to start putting your thoughts down on paper.  You want to start developing your writing skills.

    7. Learn about sales copyrighting techniques - Buy the e-book Make Your Words Sell and read it!  This is a goldmine of information for learning how to develop your sales skills and writing ability for the Internet.

    8. Go back over all of our lessons and read them again!  Really... read them again!  You'll be amazed at what you overlooked the first time around.

    In reality, to make a lot of money on the net you really only need three things:

    1. A GOOD capture page to build your list

    2. An autoresponder to keep in touch with ( and bulk email) your list

    3. A quality product (products) to sell to your list (and it doesn't even have to be your own (but you will make more money with your own product!)

    That's it... that's all you really need to make A LOT of money online if you do things right.
